How to Collect Coyote & Fox Urine
A coyote's or fox's urine can bring the hunter or trapper extra money after the pelt is taken. Trapping lure manufacturers like to purchase coyote and fox urine to be used in making lures. Trappers can also collect the urine to use on their own traplines. The key factor in collecting urine is to keep it pure, clean and protected from contaminates that will cause the animals to fear the scent rather than be attracted to it.
Instructions

-
1
Put on the rubber gloves and skin the pelt off the coyote or fox.
-
2
Lay the carcass on its back, carefully slit open the membrane covering the intestine area and pull the membrane apart, exposing the internal parts of the animal.
-
-
3
Find the bladder, which is a balloon-like sack filled with liquid, just forward of the pelvic bone. It is readily visible when the membrane is cut open.
-
4
Locate the bladder tube leading out of the bladder and pinch the tube tightly between your fingers. Cut the tube free just above your fingers and lift the bladder out while holding tightly to the tube.
-
5
Hold the bladder over a clean jar and cut a slit at the bottom of the bladder, allowing the urine to run into the jar.
-
6
Cap the jar tightly and store in a cool place away from sun or heat.

Tips & Warnings
The jar must be a canning-style jar that has never had anything in it before. Boil the jar and lid in clean water to remove any foreign odors. Keep the jar capped and stored, even when empty, away from strong odors such as petroleum products.
The rubber gloves must be clean and free of foreign odors. Store them away from strong odors.
Cut the membrane over the intestines carefully; do not plunge the knife in, as the bladder is just under the membrane.
Do not smoke while collecting urine, as tobacco smoke is a major contaminate for lure manufacturing.
Don't mix coyote and fox urine; each must be kept in its own jar.
