1
Hang the curtain-rod brackets according the instructions. Insert the curtain rod into the top of the curtains, leaving enough rod exposed on each end so that the curtain rod can sit on the brackets without any fabric in the way. Set the curtain rod on the brackets.
-
2
Hold one of the curtains back as if it were tied back. Stand back as far as you can and decide whether you like the curtain tied back at this height.
-
-
3
Hold the curtain back at several different heights, until you find the one you think looks best. Make a mark with a pencil on the wall where you'll need to place the tieback.
-
4
Measure from the floor to the mark you made, and note the measurement on a piece of scrap paper. Make a mark at the same height on the wall next to the other curtain.
-
5
Attach the tiebacks to the wall using the instructions included with the hardware. This usually involves drilling a hole in the wall and screwing on a small hook to which a fabric tieback is attached, or a large hook which holds the curtains back.
-
6
When you want to tie your curtains back, simply pull them to the side and place the tiebacks around them.
