How to Make a Basic Toy Car
Sometimes the best toys to help foster your child's imagination are the toys you take the time to build with them. One toy in particular that is easy and fun to build is a toy car. It won't necessarily be a remote control four wheel drive toy monster truck, but your child will appreciate the time you spent together while building it and the pride of knowing that they built their own toy with their own hands.

1
Carve a large eraser into the shape of a car. An eraser is a moldable and sturdy material that can handle long hours of activity. Rub the corners of the carving with a piece of paper to smooth out the edges.
-
2
Lay the eraser on a piece of cardboard so that the bottom of the car shape comes in contact with the cardboard.
-
-
3
Outline the shape around the eraser with a pencil. Remove the eraser and use a craft knife to cut out the shape.
-
4
Apply super glue all along the cardboard cutout.
-
5
Stick the cardboard cutout to the bottom of the eraser. Hold it there until the glue dries thoroughly.
-
6
Lay a straw horizontally along the bottom of the car. Cut the straw into a section that is only a little wider than the width of the bottom of the toy car. Cut out another section of straw that is the same length.
-
7
Tape the straw cutout pieces to the bottom of the car where the axles should be. Do not place the tape so tightly that you flatten the straws.
-
8
Insert a thin wooden rod through each straw piece. Ensure it is only a little longer than the straw it goes into and thin enough to easily rotate in the straw.
-
9
Poke a small hole into the middle of four plastic bottle caps. Make these holes small enough to snugly fit over the wooden rods without falling off. These make the wheels of your toy car.
-
10
Attach the plastic bottle caps to the wooden rods. Ensure the flat side of the cap faces the toy car while the open side faces outward. Add a small dollop of rubber cement to secure the bottle caps onto the rod.
