How Do I Make the Icon Labels on My Desktop Clear?

When the desktop icon labels are not transparent, there will be a rectangular box around the icon's name, instead of a simple string of text. You can change this setting to make your desktop icon labels clear or transparent. In some cases, user's icon labels--once transparent--change to the box icon label setting without the user changing the settings. This appears to be a problem, particularly in Windows XP. If you find that your desktop icon labels are no longer transparent, you can change them back with ease.
