1
Type the name into a word processor, and print it out on blank computer paper. Depending on the size of the font you choose, you can print the entire name on one sheet of paper or one letter per sheet. Use black ink when printing, and allow the ink to dry thoroughly to prevent smudging.

2
Turn the paper over, and rub chalk over the back of the letters, covering them completely. Tap any excess chalk off of the paper.

3
Trace the letters. Use painters' tape to tape the paper to the wall with the printed name facing out and the chalk against the wall. With a ballpoint pen, carefully trace around the letters, making sure to trace the inside and outside edge of each letter.

4
Remove the paper and paint the inside of each letter. The letters will be outlined in chalk and visible on the wall, making them easy to fill in with acrylic paint. Use a clean, small, flat-head brush to paint the name.

5
Remove the excess chalk by wiping with a damp cloth after the paint has dried. Touch up any letters, if needed.

Tips & Warnings
When taping large letters that are printed on individual sheets of paper, use a tape measure or level to ensure the letters are straight.
A pastel stick or soft pencil may be used in place of chalk to cover the back of the letters.
