How to Make the Radio Stay Connected on a BlackBerry Pearl
The radio setting in a BlackBerry Pearl refers to the connection to your mobile network to make calls or receive text messages. An unstable radio connection is a known issue in the BlackBerry Pearl handset that causes the radio connection to turn off for no apparent reason. Download the most current BlackBerry operating system for your BlackBerry Pearl from your mobile service provider's website to your computer. Right click on the downloaded file if it's in Zip file form and click "Extract all."

Power up your BlackBerry Pearl and connect it to your computer using the USB cable that came with its purchase. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on your computer if it doesn't open automatically when you connect the BlackBerry Pearl.

Open the Application Loader from the home screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Click "Start" to open the Update Software application.

Select the BlackBerry operating system that you downloaded from your mobile service provider in Step 1. Click "Ok" to being the installation. Disconnect your BlackBerry Pearl when the BlackBerry Desktop Manager displays a message telling you that the software update is done.

Tips & Warnings
The radio connection will also automatically disconnect if the battery in your BlackBerry Pearl is too low to support it. If you already have the latest BlackBerry Pearl operating system and you still have trouble with your radio connection, charge your phone to full capacity.
