How to Acquire a Network Address When Signing onto a D-Link Wireless Router
Acquiring an IP address from a router is accomplished using dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP). DHCP is offered by D-link routers for both wireless and hardwired connections. The protocol is run on the router and assigns available IP addresses automatically for the user. However, before a computer can receive an IP address, DHCP needs to be enabled on the machine. This is done in the network settings for your Windows machine.
