How to Detect Forward Rules in Exchange

How to Detect Forward Rules in Exchange thumbnail
Mail forwarding rules can be detected in Microsoft Outlook.

If you have multiple e-mail addresses but want all of your e-mail to be filtered into a singe account, you can set up mail forwarding so that received messages are automatically delivered to an alternate account. With an account on a Microsoft Exchange account, mail forwarding can easily be disabled or enabled through rules set up in Microsoft Outlook. If you are unsure how your mail is being forwarded, you can use Outlook to detect and adjust your forwarding rules.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the Microsoft Outlook application and log in to your Exchange account.

    • 2

Highlight your Exchange inbox from the list of mail folders on the left side of the main Outlook window.

    • 3

Open the "Tools" menu at the top of the window and choose "Rules and Alerts."

    • 4

Go to the "E-mail Rules" tab at the top of the window. Outlook will scan your Exchange account settings and detect any rules you currently have set up.

    • 5

Look at the "Actions" column to see what type of action each e-mail rule is assigned to take. Any entry with the "Forward" icon indicates a forwarding rule.

    • 6

Check the box next to a forwarding rule to enable it or uncheck it to disable it.

    • 7

Hit the "OK" button to save your e-mail rules and return to the main Outlook window.
