How to Find N on an Excel Spreadsheet

Instructions

1. Log on to your computer and open Microsoft Excel. Open a new or existing spreadsheet.

2. Locate the cell containing the value you want to find N for. Type the function to return N--this function is "=N(cell)." For instance, if the value is in cell A1, the function would be written as "=N(A1)."

3. Experiment with several different values in the cell to see how the N function works. For instance, if the value in the cell is numeric, the N value will return that number. If the value in the cell is an error message, that same error message will be returned with the N function.
