How to Change the Bulb on a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

The light bulbs on the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta are simple to replace once the bulb has burned out. The front headlights are accessible through the engine compartment, and the housing can be pulled out. The rear tail lights are accessible through the trunk. The trunk has a plastic cover over the housing for the tail lights that will need to be removed.

      Open the trunk and remove the plastic cover from the frame of the trunk using the screwdriver to remove the securing screws. Pull the cover away from the frame and locate the tail light housing.

      Pull the tail light housing out of the fitting. Pull the burned bulb out of the housing and replace the bulb with a new bulb.

      Open the hood of the Jetta. Locate the headlight housing on the right and left side of the engine compartment. Disconnect the plastic locking tabs and pull the headlight housing away from the frame.

      Pull the burned out headlight bulb out of the housing and replace it with a new bulb. Replace the headlight housing to the fitting and push it in until the locking tabs lock.
