How to Change Bit Torrent Files to DVD Format

How to Change Bit Torrent Files to DVD Format thumbnail
"DVD" stands for "digital versatile disc."

Though Bit Torrent is certainly a hub for copyrighted and illegally downloaded material, there are a lot of wonderful free and legal media files that are available using the popular file-sharing service. Most of these files will be heavily compressed to make downloading easier. If you've downloaded a video file from Bit Torrent and want to get it onto a regular DVD, you'll need to make sure you have both the necessary hardware and software that is required for the task.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install a program that is capable of burning video DVDs (if you don't have one on your computer already). Programs like Nero Burning ROM and Roxio Easy DVD Creator (see References) are some examples of programs that have this functionality.

    • 2

Make sure a blank DVD is inserted and ready to go in your computer's DVD burner.

    • 3

Open your video DVD burning utility.

    • 4

Click "File" and then "New." Click "Video DVD" to setup a new video DVD burning project.

    • 5

Drag the video file you downloaded from Bit Torrent into the main window on your DVD burning program. Then click "Next."

    • 6

Continue to click "Next" and specify any settings you are asked of by the DVD burning program. You will be asked to name your disc as well as specify things like disc burn speed. Some programs (like Nero) will also allow you to create a menu for your soon-to-be-burned DVD. This is optional.

    • 7

Click on the "Burn" button when it becomes available to you. The computer video file that you downloaded from Bit Torrent will be converted to the MPEG-2 file format (the format understood by DVD players). That converted file will then be copied to the DVD you placed in your DVD burner.
