How to Install Norton Removal Tool

Norton Removal Tool consists of programs that enable you to uninstall Norton Products such as Norton Internet Security or Norton Antivirus safely without damaging or interfering with system components. The removal tool runs automatic processes and remove Norton programs, setup folders and files. A Norton Removal Tool especially comes in handy if you are unable to uninstall your Norton product from the Control Panel on your computer system.

Instructions

      In your Web browser, navigate to the Symantec support page (link in Resources) and select the Norton product you want to remove. For example, select Norton Antivirus 2009, Norton 360 or Norton Internet Security.

      Scroll down the resulting page and click the "Download" button under "Download and run the Norton Removal Tool." When prompted, click "Save" to launch the file saving dialog box. Select the location for the Norton Removal Tool. Click "Save" to download the removal tool to your desktop.

      Close any open programs and applications, then locate and double-click the Norton Removal Tool. Click "Run" and follow the guided prompts to remove your Norton product. The instructions vary with different Norton products, so follow the guided prompts carefully. When prompted, restart your computer to complete the removal process.
