How to Clean a 5 Gallon Water Bottle

Foul odors and visible particles can accumulate inside of a 5 gallon water bottle even after one use. While dish soaps are safe to use on a 5 gallon water bottle, it can be very difficult to rinse out all of the soap bubbles. White vinegar will eliminate bacteria, mold and foul odors in the 5 gallon water bottle without any obnoxious soap suds forming inside of the bottle.

Things You'll Need

• White distilled vinegar
• Distilled bottled water
• Faucet

Instructions

1. Pour five cups of white distilled vinegar into the 5 gallon water bottle.

2. Fill the rest of the 5 gallon water bottle with distilled bottled water.

3. Let the liquids remain inside the 5 gallon water bottle for one hour.

4. Empty the liquids from the inside of the 5 gallon water bottle.

5. Fill the water bottle with 2 to 3 gallons of water from your faucet.

6. Tip the bottle over in order to rinse the bottle.

7. Repeat steps 5-6 once or twice more to rinse out the inside of the 5 gallon water bottle.

8. Allow the 5 gallon water bottle to fully air dry before you use it.
