There are many ways to make scrapbooks.

Scrapbooks are a good way to preserve precious memories and cherished heirlooms. While many people still create scrapbooks about their families using traditional albums, more and more people are making scrapbooks using other methods. Often the subject matter of the scrapbook is very different as well. A good graphics program to use for this purpose is Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. It has variety of tools you can use for this purpose.

Instructions

  1. Digital Scrapbook

    • 1

Load any images that you would like to use in your scrapbook onto your computer, either by transferring them from a digital source or by scanning them if they are printed (like old photos or newspaper clippings). If the object you want to include is something like a flow petal or a fall leaf, you will have to photograph it and then transfer it. Save all of these images to a single folder, naming it whatever you like.

    • 2

Open Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. Create a new document, make the size what you want for your scrapbook page and click "OK."

    • 3

Use the "Copy" and "Paste" functions to place each of the images you want to use on the first page in the document. Each will be on it's own layer.

    • 4

Select the "Lasso" selection tool from the toolbar. Change the 'Feather" to a value of about 20. Make a selection around the image you pasted. Then invert the selection and click "Delete." This will produce a faded edge for the image.

    • 5

Save your work as a JPEG file named "Page 1." Repeat these steps to make all of the other pages and then print them.

    Church Scrapbook

    • 6

Gather together images that the church members have taken of church services, picnics, Sunday school or other church-related events. Also collect other church-related materials, such as church newsletters, news stories about the church, written sermons, and prayers.

    • 7

Scan all of these items into your computer, saving them all to the same folder. Download some religious symbols and graphics that you would like to use and load them into the folder as well.

    • 8

Open Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. Create a new document, making the width and height what you want for the page. Use the ""Paint Bucket" tool to fill the canvas with the color that you want.

    • 9

Open some of the graphics that you loaded, and use the "Copy" and "Paste" function under "Edit" to place them on the page. Do the same to bring in the scanned images.

    • 10

Repeat this process to create all of the pages for a church scrapbook. Add more images as they are created.

Collect photos from all your friends at the dorm where you live.

    • 12

Scan these photos into your computer or transfer them from a digital source.

    • 13

Open Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. Open a new document and make it the size you would like for each of the montage images you will use as pages in your online scrapbook.

    • 14

Open the images you loaded in step 2 one by one and use the "Copy" and "Paste" function to place each of them in the document.
