How to Give Your Mom the Best Mother's Day
You can give your mom a typical Mother's Day gift like flowers, cards, balloons, jewelry and dinner at her favorite restaurant, but if you really want to give her the "best" Mother's Day ever, you'll have to plan ahead and give it some more thought. Always keep in mind what your mother's interests are and what kind of personality she has.

Talk to your mom to find out exactly what she enjoys, whether it's something she's been meaning to buy for herself or an activity she'd like to do. Then, think of a creative way to expand on and accentuate her likes into something you can really surprise her with. For example, if she likes coffee, don't just buy her the coffeemaker she's interested in. Get her the coffeemaker and with it get her a large sampling of exotic coffees from all over the world.

Assess your mother's personality. If she's a quiet homebody, then create a nice evening at home for her including a homemade five-course meal with a dessert especially for her. Make sure that you do all of the work for a change, and let her just enjoy it. Follow it up with a family viewing of her favorite movies on DVD. If your mom is a more outgoing type, plan a party at an exotic new location, such as a tea house where you can invite all of your family to celebrate and honor her.

If your mom has grandchildren, nieces or nephews, get them involved in the family celebration. It will help remind your mother how loved and needed she is by not only your immediate family, but by the extended family as well. Having children around especially can add to the festivities. Get them involved in helping you prepare the Mother's Day meal, craft personalized gifts, or write cards for your mom. Ask extended family members to contribute to a special Mother's Day scrapbook, complete with photos of your mom with the whole family.
