How to Clean a Cloth Shower Curtain
Cloth shower curtains give bathrooms texture and color. Constant exposure to moisture can leave shower curtains moldy and dirty. A dirty shower curtain does not have to thrown away. Save some money by cleaning your shower curtain in a washing machine. Washing your shower fabrics once a month will keep mold from building up and discoloring the material. Remove the shower curtain from the rod and the hooks.

Place the curtain in the washing machine. Set the water temperature at warm. Place the washer on the shortest or gentle cycle.

Add ½ capful of liquid laundry detergent to the washer.

Add three or four hand towels to the washing machine. These will clean the curtain as the washer agitates.

Pour in ½ cup of bleach when the washer is full of water.

Remove the curtain when the cycle is completed. Do not place the curtain in the dryer. Return the shower curtain to the curtain rod.

Tips & Warnings
Do not wash shower curtains with hot water. Hot water can melt plastic backing or pieces.
