      Plant your tree in a place where it has enough room to grow. Jane magnolias can reach 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide.

      Pick a spot that gets full sunlight in the morning and partial sunlight in the afternoon.

      Perform a soil test to determine your soil's pH. You can get a kit at a nearby nursery or hardware store. Jane magnolias prefer soil that is slightly acidic.
