How to Attach a 10-LB Rated Speaker Bracket to Drywall
Well placed hanging speakers can really add to the decor of a room if done right. But making sure that the brackets will hold the weight of the speakers when attached to drywall is very important. Fortunately the brackets can be installed with the assurance that they won't pull out of the wall. With the right tools and preparation the job can be completed successfully in less than an hour. Things You'll Need
- Electric drill with a driver bit
- Stud finder
- Tape measure
- Level
- 2 1/2 inch drywall screws (minimum)
- Pencil

Decide the best spot for the speakers and get a general idea of where they will be placed on the wall.

Locate a stud for each speaker bracket in the area that each one will be placed using a stud finder. Mark where the stud is for each bracket with a pencil.

Measure down from the ceiling or up from the floor with a tape measure for each bracket so that they are at the same height. Place a pencil mark on the wall to identify where the bottom of the brackets will be located.

Hold the brackets up on the wall one at a time and place a level on them to make sure they are plumb. Make sure that the holes for the screws in the brackets are where the studs have been located.

Screw the brackets to the wall into the studs using an electric drill and 2 1/2 inch drywall screws. Attach the speakers.
