Instructions

    • 1

Create your brochure with a desktop publishing program or a word processor. Either will work, although desktop publishing software has more design options. You can find free desktop software online to help you get started.

    • 2

Choose a brochure template to make the design process easier. Desktop publishing software comes with many brochure templates to fit the type of brochure you want to create. You can select one with design elements already in place or start with a blank template you can use with colored and design brochure paper.

    • 3

Customize your brochure template to fit your needs. Open the template, save it as any name you'd like, then make changes to the generic text and graphics by adding your own text and graphics. To replace the template text, select the text and hit the "Delete" key on your keyboard, then type in your own text.

    • 4

Replace template images with your own images. Select the template image and delete it, then go to the "File" menu, choose "Insert," select "Picture" and browse to the location of the image you want to insert in place of the generic template image. Click the image and it will appear in your brochure.

    • 5

Keep the design of your brochure clean. Don't use a hard-to-read font and don't overdue it with images. Take advantage of the text to describe the subject of your brochure. Only used a couple of well-chosen images to add visual appeal.

    • 6

Print your brochure on brochure paper that matches your template. If you're creating a three-fold brochure, you will want three-fold brochure paper. You can purchase brochure paper at an office supply store with or without designs. If you created you own border, use a plain brochure paper. Only use pre-designed brochure paper with borders if you didn't create a border on your brochure.
