How to Remove a Factory Stereo in a 2006 Toyota Corolla
The 2006 Toyota Corolla comes equipped with a standard single-disc CD player. Factory options are available, including a multi-disc in-dash changers, satellite radio receivers and GPS navigation units. Both standard and optional stereos are removed in a similar fashion. When manipulating any component in the vehicle that is connected to the electrical system, it is imperative that you first disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal to avoid shorting the electrical system.

Lift the Corolla's hood and disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative lead post with a 10 mm wrench.

Pull the center climate control knob from the dashboard by hand.

Pry the plastic molding around the gearshift selector away from the center console.

Pull the lowest center dash panel from the dashboard by hand.

Remove the screw in the center control knob opening with a Philips-head screwdriver. Pry the center dash panel containing the climate control knobs away from the dashboard with a trim panel removal tool.

Remove the four bolts beneath the stereo with an 11 mm socket wrench.

Slide the factory stereo from the dashboard to access the stereo wiring connected to the back of the unit.

Pull the stereo wiring from the back of the factory stereo. The antenna and power supply cables are single wires that can be pulled free by hand. The speaker wires and an amplifier cables are grouped by plastic binders and should be disconnected by pulling the binders, not the wires themselves.
