How to Install the Replacement Cartridge in a Moen Monticello Faucet
Moen's Monticello faucet is one of the company's middle-of-the-road products in terms of price, but the quality behind the Monticello is equal to any of their higher-end models. You'll know the cartridge in the faucet needs replacing if the water temperature is inconsistent or the faucet simply won't turn on. Does this Spark an idea?

Unscrew the Allen nut on the bottom of the shower lever. If you are attempting to repair a bathroom faucet Monticello, then the Allen nut should be on the front side of the handle.

Remove the handle lever once the screw is loosened.

Remove the steel clip holding the cartridge in place, using a pair of pliers.

You may have to turn the cartridge counterclockwise if it sticks and won't easily slip out.

Insert the new replacement cartridge.

Place the clip back on the stem.

Place the lever on the stem and tighten the Allen nut on the bottom side of the lever.

Tips & Warnings
Only a Moen cartridge will fit into a Moen faucet. Don't try to force another brand's cartridge in.
