Keeping a bathroom sparkling clean and sanitary does not have to require a hazmat suit, even when you're dealing with high-volume use. White vinegar cuts through soap scum and helps keep bacteria and mold from developing, while baking soda is a gentle abrasive that softens water and deodorizes as it cleans. Together they pack a powerful punch that knocks out a mess without bringing you to your knees.
Spray Cleaner

Step 1
Fill a spray bottle about 3/4 full of warm water. The size doesn't matter, but a 1/2-gallon bottle will provide enough cleanser for several uses.

Add approximately 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Use natural vinegar rather than one with the word "synthetic" in the ingredients for the most natural approach.
Step 3
Add it about 1/4 cup of baking soda slowly, while gently swirling the bottle to keep the mixture from foaming up more than necessary. Spray the mixture onto your shower surfaces and let it sit for a few seconds.
Step 4
Scrub the shower clean with a sponge, rinsing it frequently and spritzing more of the mixture as needed. Rinse the shower with hot water when you are done.
Paste Cleaner
Step 1
Fill the bottom of a deep bowl with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of baking soda.
Step 2
Add white vinegar slowly, stirring the mixture gently until it forms a thick paste. The consistency should be thin enough to spread easily but thick enough to adhere to your shower.
Step 3
Spread the paste on the shower surfaces either by putting on rubber gloves and using your fingers or scooping it out of the bowl and applying it with a clean scrub brush.
Step 4
Let the paste sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then gently scrub the area. Rinse thoroughly with hot water.
Cleaning Clogged Drains
Step 1
Sprinkle baking soda into your clogged drain if you not already poured commercial drain cleaner into the drain. The amount of baking soda does not have to be precise, but about 1/2 cup will usually do the trick.
Step 2
Pour an amount of vinegar roughly equal to the amount of baking soda used into the drain. The mixture will foam up, but don't be alarmed. That foaming action will help to clear the clog. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Pour hot water slowly into the drain to wash away any residue of the clog or the baking soda and vinegar mixture. Use boiling water if you know that you have metal plumbing, but do not pour boiling water down a drain that is plumbed with plastic pipes.
