Homemade Shower Cleaner Using Vinegar & Soda

Homemade shower cleaner is easy to make.

Cleaning your bathroom is supposed to make it tidier and healthier, but conventional cleaning products can leave behind chemical residue. You can make your own chemical-free shower cleaner using vinegar and baking soda. Not only will it eliminate shower grime and chemical residue, it also is inexpensive.

Things You'll Need

• 1/2 gallon water
• Storage container
• 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
• 1/4 cup baking soda
• Spoon (optional)
• Funnel
• Squirt bottle

Instructions

1. Fill a storage container with 1/2 gallon of water. The storage container can be any lidded container such as a soda bottle or plastic milk jug.

2. Add 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar to the storage container.

3. Add 1/4 cup baking soda to the container. Gently mix the ingredients by swirling the container, or using a spoon if it will fit into the opening of the container. The baking soda and vinegar will react with one another and create a slight fizzing in the container.

4. Remove the lid from a squirt bottle and place a funnel on top.

5. Pour some of the cleaning mixture into your squirt bottle. Replace the lid on the squirt bottle. Also place the lid onto the storage container and store your remaining cleaner for later use.

6. Spray the cleaner onto tubs, shower curtains, shower walls and panels, or sliding shower doors to remove water deposit stains.

Tips & Warnings

• Pour 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup distilled white vinegar into a sandwich bag, then tie the bag over your shower head to clean away any grime. Allow the bag to sit for an hour after all of the bubbling stops, then remove the bag and turn on your shower to rinse the shower head.
