How to Right-Angle Weave a Crystal Bracelet
Woven crystal bracelets are simple to make using a right-angle weave technique. Select two colors of crystal beads to create a sparkling bracelet that will coordinate with other items in your wardrobe. The pattern to right-angle weave a crystal bracelet involves creating a series of connected circles. Once you learn the technique, you can adapt it to create wider cuff bracelets and other jewelry designs.
Things You'll Need
- Soft monofilament line
- Scissors
- Crystal bicone beads, 4 mm
- Clasp
- Jeweler's glue
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut a 4-foot strand of soft monofilament line.
-
2
Thread three 4 mm crystal bicone beads to the center of the line. Hold both ends of the line so that they are even.
-
-
3
Thread a fourth 4 mm crystal bicone bead over the left line. Insert the end of the right line through the fourth crystal bead so that the lines cross inside the bead. One line will be exiting the left side and one will be exiting the right side of the fourth bead. Pull the lines taut to create a circle with the four crystal beads.
-
4
Add one 4 mm crystal bead to each line. Slide the beads all the way to meet the circle. Add a third crystal bead over the left line. Cross the right line through the third crystal bead in the opposite direction as you did in Step 2. Pull the lines taut to form another circle.
-
5
Repeat Step 3 to form a strand of woven circles that equal the desired length of the crystal bracelet. End with the two lines exiting in the opposite direction of one bead.
-
6
Tie the two monofilament lines around the metal attachment loop of a section of bracelet clasp. A double overhand knot will work to hold the clasp in place. Feed both lines back through the first bead in the circle next to the clasp. Continue to feed the lines through the crystal beads in the circle, one line to the left and one to the right and then both through the center bead. Feed the lines back through at least two circles.
-
7
Cover the knot with jeweler's glue.
-
8
Cut a 10-inch strand of soft monofilament line. Thread the line halfway through the first bead in the first circle on the opposite end of the bracelet.
-
9
Tie the line around the remaining section of clasp. Feed the lines back through the crystal beads on the bracelet. Cover the knot with jeweler's glue.
