How to Convert Cable to AV Cable
Although cable is brought into your home through a special coaxial cable, many televisions no longer have the coaxial cable input. If your TV does not have the input or if you want an improved picture quality, use RCA A/V connectors. With this connection, there are three different cables--one for video and two for audio. The cables also provide a slight quality increase over the standard coaxial cable.
Instructions

1
Connect the coaxial cable running in from the wall into the "In" port on the cable receiver.
-
2
Insert the RCA cables into the "Video Out" ports on the rear of the cable receiver. Make sure the cables match the same color of the ports.
-
-
3
Plug the other end of the RCA A/V cables into the "Video In" ports on the television.
-
4
Power on the cable receiver and the TV. Push the "Input" button on the TV and select "Video." This changes the TV from the standard tuner to the video input, allowing you to watch the content of the cable receiver.
