How to Deer Hunt With a Walker Colt

Hunting deer with a Walker Colt is no easy feat. You have to deal with the challenge of black powder hunting in addition to the limited range of a handgun. The extra powder, balls and caps along with the equipment to keep a black powder gun in working order can become bulky. Throwing a handgun into the mix challenges your skills to sneak inside a deer's defenses for a clean shot.

Instructions

1. Practice with your gun as much as possible. Every shot must hit inside an eight-inch circle before you attempt to shoot a deer.

2. Study your quarry. Learn deer's habits and anatomy so you can make a perfect shot.

3. Select a hunting method. You can hunt from a set stand or stalk through the woods and try to sneak up on a deer.

4. Spend time in the woods during hunting season. The more time you're out there, the better your chances of success.
