How to Download Game Software From Limewire Basic
LimeWire, a peer-to-peer file-sharing client, houses millions of media files that have been uploaded and published to the Internet. Game software is also included. In most cases, LimeWire search results only display audio files, and games usually don't appear in any results. Therefore, search options must be changed and the advanced settings must be configured to retrieve game downloads. Using LimeWire's advanced search feature isn't difficult, as it makes game searching and downloading much more feasible.

Open the LimeWire Basic application on your computer.

Access the "Tools" tab at the top of the LimeWire Basic application window.

Go to the "Options" tab, and LimeWire's preferences and configurations window will open.

Click the "Configure" button in the Sharing section of the window.

Check the box that enables program searching, as game software is categorized as programs in LimeWire search results. Click "OK" to save this action.

Click the drop-down bar that reads, "All" at the top of the LimeWire search portal. (This drop-down menu is only in the latest editions of LimeWire, which are versions 5.1.1 and up. For versions 4.0 and earlier, this option will be on the left side panel of the application.)

Select the "Advanced Search" action at the bottom of the search options list, and click "Programs."

Type the name of the game software in the blank data form that will be displayed below the Programs tab, and click the "Search" button. Once you've found the game software of your choice in the search results, click its tab, and it will be transferred to your LimeWire download portal.

Tips & Warnings
While LimeWire Basic can be used effectively for game downloading, LimeWire Pro is recommended. LimeWire Pro comes equipped with anti-virus scanning capability that is conducted with every search to ensure any potential viruses are filtered out. LimeWire Basic does not offer this feature, which could put your computer at risk.
