Using "Command Prompt," you can view a lot of technical information about your computer.

An IP (Internet Protocol) address identifies your specific computer within your Internet network. Each computer has a unique IP address. An IP address can help with configuring your network so you know what computers are on it, which need to be blocked and more. The Dell 8500 laptops use Windows XP, and within each Windows operating system is the program "Command Prompt," which can be used to identify your individual IP address.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" menu at the bottom of the screen.

    • 2

      Click "Run."

    • 3

    • 5
