Instructions

    • 1

Approach an ATM. Look around to assure there is nothing or no one suspicious around. If there is already someone at the ATM, stand behind him, keeping your distance.

    • 2

Insert your ATM card into the upper slot on the machine. If you are not sure how to do it, notice that there is a picture on the machine explaining the direction that your card needs to be, and where to insert it. Don't push the card with too much pressure when inserting the card.

    • 3

Select a language you understand on the welcoming screen. Sometimes you'll have to use buttons to indicate your selections, while other times the ATM will have a touch screen. It's becoming commonplace to see machines that offer service in English and Spanish.

    • 4

Enter your PIN code (short for Personal Identification Number) by pressing buttons on the keypad or the screen itself. Make sure that no one is watching as you enter the numbers. Then press the "Enter" button on the screen or keypad.

    • 5

Use the keypad or touchscreen to enter the amount of money you want to get from your bank account. Choose a number that ends in a 0 or a 5. Press enter on the keypad or touch screen.

    • 6

Look for money coming out from the horizontal slot located towards the bottom of the ATM. Take the money and wait a few seconds until your card reappears in the upper slot and your receipt comes out of the machine.

    • 7

Take your card when it comes out of the card slot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the receipts so you can track all your transactions.

  • Be careful when dealing with an ATM; chose a well lit machine if it's dark outside and make sure that no one is near you while you're using it.

  • Never accept any help regarding your card, PIN or using the ATM.
