Every automotive has a fuse box. Fuses are very important because without them the electrical systems such as the power windows, the power locks, the lights and the radio would not work. Here are a few steps on how to find the car fuse box inside a car in case of a blown fuse or electrical problems.

Step 1

Check your vehicle owner's manual fuse box diagram to find out where the fuse box and car battery are located. There are two fuse panels. One is usually under your dashboard, to the left of your steering wheel, surrounded by electrical components, and the other one is located under the hood of the car in the engine compartment.

Step 2

Open the hood of the car. There is a fuse box located under the hood. This fuse box is usually found on the driver's side of the car. It is a black box and it is usually labeled with the word "FUSES" on the fuse box lid and is color coded with an AMP rating (amperage).

Step 3

Look under the dash board below the steering wheel. This is where the other fuse box is located. It may be well hidden, but it will be labeled with word "FUSES" also. Simply pull on the door to open it. The fuses in this fuse box will be smaller than the fuses under the hood.

Step 4

To install a new fuse DIY, a few things are needed, all of which are available at an auto parts/car parts store. You’ll need a needle nose pliers, wire harness, a replacement fuse and a screwdriver. You’ll use the pliers as a fuse puller, after turning the car off to avoid a short circuit or a shock from the electrical currents. Then use a test light to see which fuse is blown, and replace it with the new one. If this doen’t seem like something you are comfortable with, take it to a mechanic shop.
