How to Eliminate Ghost Images With Cable TV

A ghost image on a television is a slightly blurred image that creates a trail behind a moving object. This is most common in fast-moving movies or sports. If you have cable television and you notice ghosting on the TV, there are a few ways you can correct the issue, although with some older television sets there isn't anything you can do about the image issue.

Things You'll Need

• TV
• RCA cables
• Cable receiver

Instructions

1. Check the cable connection of the TV and the cable receiver. If the cable is loose or not connected correctly, it can cause image issues.

2. Switch your cable connection from coaxial cable to RCA cables. Your image is more likely to ghost when using a coaxial cable than with any other cable connection.

3. Upgrade to HD service. HD is less likely to ghost than older digital and analog services.

4. Press the "Menu" button on the television's remote control and select the "Picture" options. Choose the refresh rate option and set it to the medium level. TVs with a higher refresh rate reduce the ghosting, but if you turn the refresh rate to a level it cannot process it will cause the TV to overwork and actually increase the jittering.
