How to Change the Idle Timeout on Yahoo Messenger
After a period of inactivity (15 minutes by default), Yahoo! Messenger will change your status from "Online" to "Idle" or "Away." This does not log you out, it simply lets your contacts know that you may be unavailable. You can change the idle timeout period, either by disabling it completely or by adjusting the amount of time before you enter "Idle" mode.
