How to Control a Yahoo Chat Room
Yahoo chat rooms can be public or private. You can create your own chat room, which means that you are the moderator of that room. You can also log in and chat in Yahoo chat rooms that are already created. Whether you are in your own chat room or another Yahoo chat room, you have options for controlling the experience.

1
Start your own chat room if you want to be able to control it. You can create your own private chat room at the Yahoo Chat page. Once you create it, you are the owner and moderator, and you can control things by going into "moderator controls" at the right side of the page. In some older versions of Yahoo, it will be listed at the top, or under "Tools" at the top. When you click it, you will be directed to a place where you can decide on certain controls for your chat room.

2
Click on "Moderator Controls" whenever you are in the chat room and would like to control it in any way.

3
Click on "Users" to ban users from the chat room or to restrict what they can do. When you click on Users, you will see a box with all of the users listed. You can click on the users and decide whether you should block them, restrict them to different levels of allowance for posting or editing, or keep them from seeing everything on the site. You can also send private messages through your User box.

Click on "Edit Posts" on any of the chat posts to edit them or to delete them. When you click on this link, you will be directed to a list of posts from which you can delete posts or make changes to them. You may want to leave an explanatory note when you edit a post.

Tips & Warnings
Another option for controlling chat rooms is to become a moderator of an existing chat room. Administrators choose moderators, generally based on how long the moderator has been a member of the chat room and the quality of the member's contributions.
