How to Attach Wings to a My Little Pony
The Hasbro toy's company's My Little Pony line of plastic equines has been a favorite among children for more than two decades. While some pony toys come made with their own wings, many children may desire to give the gift of imaginary flight to some of their other miniature pony friends. Use craft foam to create a pair of soft, yet durable, customized wings that will make your child's My Little Pony the envy of her playmates.

1
Create a paper wing pattern. Draw your own feathery wing shape or size and print one from free clip art using a computer image editing program (see Resources). For baby ponies, make wings about 3 inches long. For adult ponies, make the wings about 4 inches long (adjust according to the size you prefer). Cut out the pattern. Make sure each wing has a short, flat edge of about 1/2 inch at the point where it will connect to the pony's back.

Cut out the wings from craft foam. Affix the paper pattern to the foam using safety pins and cut out the shape with scissors. Repeat with a second shape.

3
Decorate the wings, if you like. Use acrylic paint or permanent markers to add patterns to the wings, such as layered lines, the outline of feathers or symbols to match or coordinate with the pony's rump tattoo. Glue on glitter or rhinestones using a thin layer of tacky craft glue. Decorate both sides of each wing, as all four sides will be visible on the pony.

4
Tie up the pony's hair so it won't get in the way. Gather the hair to the front of the pony's head to form a ponytail that points forward, over the pony's face. Secure in place with a small rubber band. If your pony is the type that has especially long hair, twist it into a bun and secure this with an additional rubber band.

5
Position the wings on the pony's back and mark their location with chalk. Hold the wings pressed up to the pony's back in the spot you plan to glue them and make sure you like the way they look. When you like the positioning, mark lines with chalk to indicate where you'll put the glue. Test these lines again by putting the wings back over them.

6
Glue the wings in place. Apply a thin line of cyanoacrylate glue to one of the chalk lines, then place the flat edge of the wing firmly against the glue. Hold in place for 30 seconds (adjust time per instructions on the glue bottle). Repeat with the second wing.
