How to Make a Flip Book From a Video
Many of us can remember the days when we doodled a flip book on the corner of our notebook in freshman English. Today, we can make a more professional-looking flip book from a digital video. This novel project is easy to make once you have found the correct software online. There are outlets online that will transfer your digital video into a flip book and send it to you or there is software that will allow you to print the book at home. Popular flip book subjects are your baby's first steps, a bride walking down an aisle or a sports event.

Printing Through an Outlet
-
1
Find an outlet that will transfer your digital video into a flip book. Some printing shops offer this service. Find an online outlet by searching for "flip books from digital videos."
-
2
Upload your video. Most outlets accept videos up to 30 seconds in length that are in MOV/QT, AVI, DV, MPEG4, MPEG2, Motion JPEG and 3GPP formats. To determine the format of your video, look at the letters after the file name of the video.

-
3
Choose the size of your flip book. Some software will only print a flip book on business cards but others will have larger options.
-
4
Personalize the cover of your flip book. If possible, choose a decorative cover that will protect your pages. The cover is generally thicker than the flip pages. Some outlets will also allow you to choose a title for your flip book.
Printing at Home
-
5
Download free flip book software onto your computer. You can find free software by entering the search terms "free flip book software" into a search engine.
-
6
Open the software and upload your video. Most software will divide the video frames into 10 business card frames per page.
-
7
Place the business card paper in your printer so that the frames will print directly onto the business cards. How you do this will depend on if your printer prints on the front or back of the paper. Consider testing a page with scrap paper before printing the entire book. Cut out the business cards and keep them in the proper order.
-
8
Punch two holes a 1/2 inch apart on the middle of the left edge of the first business card. Repeat this process for all of the business cards ensuring that the holes are in the same place on each card.
-
9
Hold all of the business cards together in the proper order so that the holes are lined up. Pull the end of the yarn through the bottom hole from the back of the stack and then through the top hole from the front of the stack. Tie a knot in the back of the stack to secure the cards together and cut the excess yarn.

Tips & Warnings
The best videos for flip books are shot one yard away from the subject and are a resolution of 320 x 240, which is common for most digital cameras, or 640 x 480, which is common for camcorders.
A 15-second video will print approximately 75 pages according to the software you use. If your movie is longer than 30 seconds, use video-editing software to cut it down or re-shoot the entire video.
Consider sending a flip book along with a party invitation that shows you as the host holding up a sign with your party's information. For a save-the-date card, include a flip book that shows you and your fiance together.
