How to Repair Plaster of Paris

Plaster of Paris is easy to repair because it doesn't shrink after it has dried like regular plaster does. It is relatively easy to work with and usually dries within 24 hours. If the crack in your plaster of Paris is very small and thin, you need to make it larger before you repair it because larger cracks are easier to repair than small ones. After small cracks are repaired, they tend to reappear quickly.

Use the fine sandpaper wrapped around a wooden block to smooth the repaired area into the rest of the plaster of Paris.

Tips & Warnings

  • If after you sand the area it still doesn't look right, you can wet the area again with a wet paint brush and allow to dry again, sanding it again after it is dry.

  • You must wait until the plaster of Paris is completely dry before sanding.
