How to Troubleshoot a Dell AIO Printer to Receive Faxes
Dell AIO (all-in-one) printers provide good flexibility for small and home offices that need access to not only print, scanning and copy functions, but also fax. But like standalone fax machines, these devices can encounter problems that prevent you from successfully receiving faxes. Some basic troubleshooting can generally uncover the source of the problem and help get your fax reception back in working order.

1
Make sure that the printer is turned on and that it's connected to your computer.
-
2
Check the telephone line to ensure that it's properly connected to both the wall outlet and the printer. If you have a DSL (digital subscriber line) Internet connection, make sure you're using a filter on the phone cable. Internet service providers usually provide several filters to customers when they first obtain DSL service.

3
Check the connection of your external modem (if you're using one) to ensure it's active and has a proper connection with your computer.
-
4
Check that the printer is stocked with paper. If it isn't, refill the paper tray.
-
5
Remove paper from the paper rollers if the printer indicates there is a paper jam. If you can see the page, simply gasp it with two hands and evenly pull it until it's removed. If you can't see the page, turn off the printer, lift the printer lid and pull to remove the page.
