Determine the most likely places the roaches will hide. For instance, behind the refrigerator and under the stove are popular cockroach sites. By learning where the roaches are going to be, you can concentrate your boric acid distribution and kill the pests quickly.

    • 2

Lay a coat of the acid powder down in the infected areas. Pull the refrigerator out, clean the area then sprinkle the powder along the baseboard. Repeat the process behind the stove. Put small amounts of boric acid in the corner of storage areas and garages. Use a boric acid bottle with a tip applicator. This will allow you to control the stream of powder.

    • 3

Create barriers for the roaches to cross. The boric acid will coat their feet and a few will carry it back to the nest. This will effectively kill many roaches at one time and speed up the process. Pick regions that are not high traffic areas for your family. This will limit your exposure to the poison. Lay a thin line of powder along the side of appliances. This is a place a cockroach will probably walk.

Walk around the outside of your house and look for cracks in the foundation. Sprinkle the boric acid power into the cracks.
