How to Add Command Bots to an AIM Chat Room

Add a Bot to your AIM Chat room to help with what you need.

AIM Chat Bots are computer-controlled screen names that can have a conversation with you or perform different tasks. For example, when you talk to the AIM Bot called MovieFinder, you can check movie times by simply asking him, "What are the movie times for...?" and the bot responds with an answer. You can add AIM Bots to a chat room just like you can add any buddy on your buddy list.

Instructions

1. Navigate to the AIM Bots Gallery (see the link in the Resources section). Here you can find hundreds of AIM Bots, all rated in terms of performance.

2. When you've found a Bot you'd like to have on your buddy list, click the "Want it? Add this Bot to your Buddy List" link under the Bot's name. AIM will then automatically open and the Bot's name will appear in your buddy list.

3. Right-click the Bot's name on your buddy list and select "Buddy Chat" from the menu. An AIM Chat room will open with just you and your Bot. To add more people, type in their screen names in the "Screen names to invite" box and click "Send."

Tips & Warnings

• You can edit the name of your AIM Chat room by typing in a name in the "Chat room" box.
