How to Make Pre-Workout Whey Protein Shakes
Many athletes and fitness enthusiasts use whey protein shakes to help build muscle and provide a pre- or post-workout blast of energy. Liven up your next shake with a mixture of whey protein and other healthy, delicious ingredients.
Things You'll Need
- Vanilla whey protein shake mix
- Blender
- 1 ripe banana
- Sharp knife
- 1/4 cup low-fat peanut butter
- Skim milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- Plain yogurt
- Ice cubes
- 2 cups ripe berries
- Soy milk

Vanilla, Banana and Peanut Butter Shake

Pour one or two scoops vanilla whey protein shake powder into a blender. Use vanilla or chocolate, depending on your preference. Consult the nutrition facts of your brand of whey protein powder to see if one scoop or two scoops is the recommended serving size.

Cut one ripe banana into 1/2-inch slices with a sharp knife. Drop the banana slices into the blender.

Add 1/4 cup low-fat peanut butter, 1 cup skim milk and 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract to the blender.

Pour 2 tbsp. plain, low-fat yogurt and 2 cups of ice cubes into the blender.

Blend the mixture on a low setting for three to four minutes or until the ice is completely crushed and the ingredients are well mixed.
Berries and Yogurt Shake

Pour 2 cups ripe berries into a blender. If using strawberries, cut them into slices with a sharp knife.

Add one or two scoops vanilla whey protein to the blender.

Pour 1/2 cup low-fat yogurt and 2 cups soy or skim milk into the blender.

Add 2 cups of ice cubes into the blender. Blend the mixture on a low setting for three to four minutes or until the ice is completely crushed and the ingredients are well blended.
