      Go to mycarstats.com and click on the link for your state. For example, the state of Texas website is dmv.tx.gov.

      Search for information on getting title information. Sometimes this information will be listed under frequently asked questions (FAQs).

      Download and complete the appropriate form to request a title search or what some states call a title history. In Texas, the form is called Request for Texas Motor Vehicle Information, VTR-275.

      Mail the completed form, along with the appropriate fee (do not send cash) to the appropriate state motor vehicles division address or carry the application and fee to a local office.

      Wait about seven to 10 days for receipt of the information on old car title.
