How to Make Coasters Using Beads
There are many ways to make coasters using beads. Cut fabric into a desired shape and stitch or glue the beads in place. Special super tacky craft tape and no-hole beads are also ways to add beads to any fabric coaster design. Create other beaded coaster designs using a bead weaving technique or a peyote stitch with no fabric backing required. One of the simplest ways to make coasters using beads involves pre-cut cork pads and microbeads.

1
Place one cork coaster on top of a sheet of wax paper on a flat work surface. Cork coasters come in squares or circles and are available at most discount stores. If you can't find cork coasters, cut a cork sheet into any size or shape that you like with a craft knife. Standard sizes for square coasters is 4 inches square, round coasters typically have a 4-inch diameter in order to fit the bottoms of most glasses.

2
Squirt a dime-size amount of liquid jeweler's glue onto the center of the cork coaster. Spread the glue evenly in the center of the coaster with a toothpick. Liquid jeweler's glue dries clear and is strong enough to hold the beads in place on the cork.

3
Cover the glued space with microbeads in any color to suit your home decor. Microbeads are also called no-hole beads. They are tiny, round bits of glass available in most craft stores.
-
4
Roll the dowel over the beads to spread them out evenly in the glue.
-
5
Continue to add small amounts of glue to one section of the cork coaster, followed by microbeads. Press the beads in place with the dowel. Fill the top of the cork coaster with beads.
-
6
Roll the dowel over the beaded cork after all the beads are in place. The goal is to not have any beads protruding higher than the others, or your glass may not sit straight on the coaster.
