How to Use a Steam Cleaner on a Lauzon Wood Floor

A steam cleaner can penetrate deep into the wood, kill bacteria, and lift stains with little effort required on your part.

Things You'll Need

• Steam cleaner solution or laundry detergent
• Vinegar

Instructions

1. Fill a steam cleaner with 1/2 cup of steam cleaning solution, then top off with warm water. Substitute laundry detergent for the steam cleaning solution if you prefer, as laundry detergent will work just as well plus be less costly. Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar, which is safe for the Lauzon wood floor but also adds a disinfecting and deodorizing element.

2. Turn on the steam cleaner, adjusting the temperature to the lowest heat setting possible. It is important to use low heat, as extremely high temperatures can potentially damage the wood surface.

3. Run the steam cleaner slowly over the Lauzon wood floor, following the grain of the wood. The steam will lift dirt and residue, while the heat will quickly evaporate the moisture, the oversaturation that commonly happens with a regular mop. Continue until the entire floor has been cleaned.
