Microsoft USB Flash Drive Manage can help manage your flash drive.

Microsoft USB Flash Drive Manager is a program you can install on a Windows-based system that allows you to back up the information on portable flash drives. The software is rather straightforward; however, you can run into occasional issues while using the program. These problems are typically small hiccups in the backup process that you can correct without much time or effort.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the USB flash drive into the computer after it boots up. If you insert it prior to the boot up process, the computer may fail to recognize the memory card.

    • 2

Check the connection between the USB flash drive and the computer. If the cable is not inserted completely, the computer can not read it. Also, if the computer fails to detect the USB drive, you may have a dead flash drive. This is a common issue with flash drives. Remove the flash drive and insert it into a different USB port.

    • 3

Select the "Backup/Restore" option in USB Flash Drive Manager and make sure to chose a location where you want to backup the files. If not the program sends the files to a default setting specific to your computer. Without knowing where the files are placed, you either need to search for the files or repeat the backup process.

Select "Backup" instead of "Restore." If you choose "Restore" by accident it removes everything from the USB flash drive, returning it to the original factory settings.
