How to Adjust the Headlights on a 2001 Grand Prix

Your 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix uses two adjustment screws to adjust the position of each headlight. If you replace your headlights and they do not come pre-adjusted from the factory, you must adjust them yourself. The screw on the inside edge of the headlight housing adjusts the lateral movement of the headlight. The screw on the top of the headlight adjusts the vertical movement of the headlight.

Instructions

    • 1

Park your 2001 Grand Prix so that the front of the car is facing a closed garage door. Position the car so that it is 25 feet away from the door.

    • 2

      Turn on the headlights.

    • 3

Open the hood. Adjust the screw on the inside edge of the headlight housing of both headlights so that the headlight beams overlap by about 50 percent.

    • 4

Adjust the screw on the top of the headlight housing so that the center of the headlight beam sits on the bottom of the garage where the door meets the ground.
