How Do I Change My Code on My Genie Intellicode?

The Genie Intellicode helps keep criminals out of your garage.

A garage door opener is a huge help, especially in cold or wet weather, when it is troublesome to get out and unlock the garage door yourself. One big concern about garage door openers, however, is the security factor. Intelligent hackers have a way of capturing your code, giving them access to your garage and maybe even your entire house. The Genie Intellicode is a garage door opener that outsmarts these criminals by constantly changing the code each and every time you open your garage door. You need to enter a personal identification number, or PIN, every time you open the garage. There may come a time where you want to change your PIN, which is done by resetting the Genie Intellicode via the keypad.

Instructions

1. Open up the keypad cover of the Genie Intellicode halfway.

2. Press the "Prog" and the "8" buttons simultaneously, and hold them down while you finish opening the keypad cover the rest of the way. Release these buttons, and shut the keypad completely. This restores the code to its original setting.

3. Open the keypad cover all the way, and then use the keypad to enter 3-5-7. Press the "Prog" button, and enter the new PIN number that you wish to use (up to 8 digits) followed by the "Prog" button. Close the keypad and press "Learn," and then open the keypad again. Enter your new PIN number, and then press the "Send" button repeatedly until the garage door opens. You may have to push the "Send" button four or more times for this to happen.
