How to Donate a Vehicle to the ACS

How to Donate a Vehicle to the ACS thumbnail
Donating a car can help fund cancer research.

The American Cancer Society fights cancer through research, events and donations. Its Cars for a Cure program allows individuals to make tax-deductible donations of cars, trucks, vans or boats to help find a cure for cancer. Rather than going through the process of selling or trading in your used vehicle, you will be helping a worthy cause by donating it to fund cancer research and education.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your vehicle to ensure that all four tires are inflated and usable and that you have the keys available. Have your transferable vehicle title available as well before proceeding. Your vehicle does not have to be in running condition, but these requirements must be met before you can donate to ACS.

    • 2

Navigate to the ACS's Cars for a Cure website listed in References. Read the instructions and qualifications thoroughly. Scroll to the bottom of the page and fill out your contact information. Click "Next" to proceed.

    • 3

Fill out your vehicle information. Be certain to fill out each question as best as you can. Note that each question with an asterisk beside it must be filled out. Click "Next" to confirm and submit your donation information.

    • 4

Allow up to two weeks to receive your paperwork in the mail. Sign all information enclosed and mail your donation paperwork back to the address listed on your forms. Once your signed paperwork is received, a local vendor will contact you to make arrangements to pick up your vehicle.
