How to Register a Website with Google

If you have a website, you may want to register it with different search engines, such as Google. After you register your site and Google adds the website to its index, you will be able to view your site in the search engine results. This helps direct more traffic to your site. Registering your site with Google is well worth the brief effort needed.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Google.com and click the "About Google" link located below the search box.

    • 2

Look to the section labeled "For Site Owners." Click "Submit your content to Google." A new page will open that gives you the option to submit your website, maps, media, and sale items.

    • 3

Select "Add Your URL to Google's Index" located in the "Web" section.

    • 4

Enter your website address in the "URL" box and enter a brief description of your site in the "Comments" box.

    • 5

Enter the confirmation text to verify that you are a human and not a robot, then click "Add URL" to finish registering your site with Google.

Tips & Warnings

  • Google will add a website to its index only once; do a quick Google search to make sure your site hasn't already been added before you register the site.
