How to Hook Up DVD Satellite TV to a VCR
If you do not have a DVR (digital video recorder) you can use a VCR to record the contents from television programing you receive from a satellite receiver. You can also connect a DVD player to your VCR. Although the quality of the DVD diminishes to VCR standard you can also connect the VCR to the DVD if you want to record the contents of a DVD to a VHS tape (if you want to back up a DVD).

1
Connect a set of RCA cables into the "Video In" port on the back of your television. Plug the other end of the RCA cables into the "Out" port on the VCR.
-
2
Plug a second set of RCA cables into the "In" port on the VCR and insert the other end into the "Out" port on the RCA splitter. An RCA splitter takes two video signals (in this case the DVD player and the satellite receiver) and converts it into one connection. A switch on the top of the switcher allows you to control what video device passes through to the out port. For example, if the DVD player is connected to side "A" and the satellite receiver to side "B" and the RCA switcher is set to "B" you are going to see the satellite receiver content.
