How to Make Pagan Greeting Cards
Greeting cards have become a large part of the modern world. Holiday seasons are filled with cards being sent through the mail and many stores have countless birthday, graduation, sympathy and thank you cards to choose from. Many of these cards, especially holiday cards, have themes based heavily on Christian traditions. Pagans have few choices in greeting cards, especially when it comes to pagan-specific celebrations. You can make simple, beautiful pagan greeting cards at home.

1
Choose an occasion for your greeting card. For birthdays, graduations and pagan initiations, use general pictures that symbolize your faith--such as the triple moon or pentagram--along with symbols specific to the celebrant, like zodiac symbols or birth-month trees. Choose evergreens and holly work for Yule, candles for Imbolc, daffodils and trees for Ostara, and May poles and ribbons for Beltaine. See Resources for a link to more holidays and symbols.

Pick rubber stamps and pictures appropriate to the occasion you choose. Fold a piece of 11-by-9-inch card stock in half and arrange and rearrange your pictures and stamps (make sure they have no ink on them, yet) until you find a design you like. Glue the pictures to the card stock, embellishing them with paint around the edges and iridescent paint highlighting candle flames, holly berries or the lines of a pentagram.

Stamp the stamps you want onto your card. Quickly sprinkle them with embossing powder before the ink dries. Heat the powder with a hair dryer on low to make it shiny and textured.

4
Allow the glue, paint and powder dry. Write your messages on the inside and outside of the card. Use either calligraphy or letter stencils with a fun or elegant font. If you work quickly, throw embossing powder on your message.

Tips & Warnings
Use a tissue-paper insert that complements the color of your card stock to add elegance to your cards. Write your message on the tissue and glue it inside the cards.
To further personalize your cards, write a pagan blessing specific to your practice and the occasion inside each card.
For cards specific to holidays dealing with nature, use dried leaves and flowers to decorate your cards.
